Christ will occupy no middle ground with men. He must either be precious to us or worthless to us. To all who truly believe He is precious. To all who do not He is worthless. Note that the apostle Peter does not say, "Unto you who say you believe he is precious" or "you who believe he exists" or "you who believe some historical facts about him" but "you who believe." Those who do not believe on Christ may try to say that though they do not believe they do not regard Christ as worthless. But to not believe on Christ is to regard Him as worthless. It is to refuse and count as nothing Gods unspeakable gift. It is to cast the highest insult in the face of Almighty God. There is nothing in the world that is precious apart from Christ. In Him is life, peace, forgiveness, righteousness, reconciliation, redemption, sanctification and every precious thing of Gods grace. There will come a time when the refiners fire will burn throughout the earth and that which men regard as precious shall be burned up leaving only the precious things of Christ to remain. All who believe on Him will find it well in that hour and all who dont will not. He must be precious to us now for it to be with us then. Therefore, we must believe now!
