There are many who declare that man has a free-will, that he is the one who determines his own destiny and has the power to resist God and hold the Almighty in check. Such a blasphemous belief would strip God of His attribute of sovereignty. And the world's religion would have us believe that man has over-stepped his boundaries originally set by God and that now God is nothing more than a mere spectator. The world is at times in utter chaos. God is more or less without power over the sin and suffering brought into the world by the fall of Adam. But such thinking is nonsense. To deny the sovereignty of God in anything is to make someone or something else more powerful than Him.
My friend, the sovereignty of God is absolute, irresistible and infinite. To believe that God is sovereign is to simply affirm His right as God to govern this universe, which He has created for His glory, just as He pleases. He is the potter and we are the clay. We have no more power over God than clay has over the potter. God molds the clay of Adam's race into whatever form He chooses. From the lump of fallen humanity, He makes one vessel unto honor and another into dishonor. This is His right because He is God. He is under no law, rule, or power beyond His own sovereign will and holy nature. He is God. (Read Isaiah 46:5-13)
