By nature we are all full of self-will, self-sufficiency, self-righteousness, and pride. When a man carries these principles over into his religion, he is what we call an "Arminian". He will talk about Jesus, sing about Jesus, call Jesus Lord, and even say that "Salvation is of the Lord"; but one way or another he attributes a part of his salvation to "self", leaving a little room for boasting (I Cor. 1:17-31).

By faith we see him dead, reckon him dead, even call him dead, but as long as we dwell in these earthly tabernacles he will continue to promote "self" (See Romans 7). However, by God's grace the elect will continue to honestly and prayerfully sing,
