In my travels around the country to different churches over the years, I have often been asked this question: "Preacher, are there saved people in the Arminian churches? This question is often raised by someone who has recently "come out" of an Arminian church, someone who seemed to be manifesting a sort of latent desire to condemn all who did not "come out" with him. More often, perhaps (I hope so!), this question is raised by someone who has family and friends who attend an Arminian church, and wants to hear a word from me to give them some measure of hope for their loved ones.
It is not my calling, nor am I inclined to, nor do I desire to give an answer to this question! Only God can draw that invisible line between the living and the dead! I do know that Armininism exalts the free-will, decisions and works of man above the sovereign will, purpose and power of God. And this is blasphemous! I also know some other things: (1) I know that there is only one gospel through which God saves sinners, and that, anyone who does not believe that gospel is not saved (Gal. 1:6-9). (2) I know that God does not save sinners through half-truths and lies, but through the truth (John 8:31-36; Eph. 1:13). Be assured that salvation is not a move or decision based upon feelings or emotions. Salvation is a sinner's response to the truth: truth heard, understood, believed and lived upon (Rom. 10:8-17; Heb. 11:13). (3) I know that no man ever truly worshiped who did not worship at the throne of a sovereign God, the God of the Bible (John 1:13; 3:3-8; Rom. 9:1-24). (4) I know that anyone who fights against the sovereign, free, independent God of the Bible is involved in an act of futility which will destroy his soul (Ps. 2).
"Of his (God's) own will begat he us with the word of truth" (James 1:18). Let each of us, with urgency and prayer, get the truth to our loved ones. True faith and hope arises out of Divine Truth!!!
