God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him MUST worship Him in SPIRIT and in TRUTH–John 4.24.

God will not accept any form of worship apart from that which He has prescribed. He will not accept truth alone, nor will He accept Spirit alone. He MUST be worshipped in SPIRIT and in TRUTH. There are those who attempt to worship God with doctrinal truth alone, and there are those who minimize the truth and say that the Spirit alone is necessary. There are many problems with both these theories. But basically the root of the problem is twofold: The truth without the Spirit of God is a lifeless form; cold and dead. The truth cannot be really known and believed apart from revelation by the Spirit of God. The other part of the problem is this: Any Spirit that confesses not the truth is not the Spirit of the Living God, and is false. The Lord Jesus Christ is the singular Object of true worship. He is TRUTH! He is GOD! The Spirit of God speaks not of Himself, but of CHRIST. The worship of God must come from a new heart; a heart that bows to Him, loves Him, and adores Him. God only accepts heart worship of the Lord Jesus Christ, the God-man. "...The hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in Spirit and in Truth:for the Father seeketh such to worship Him John 4:23.
