"Whose praise is not of men, but of God." While men see nothing commendable or praiseworthy in the true believer,God does! The reason God sees this excellence in the believer is He really sees the excellence of His own work. "Thou hast wrought all our works in us." "For it is God that worketh in you both to will and to do His good pleasure." God cannot help but praise that which in reality is nothing more than the work of His own hands. Every believer knows this is the truth. "He that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be manifest, that they are wrought in God." While this explains to me how God can find something praiseworthy in man, it also creates in me a thirst for God to see that in me which He is pleased with! While I freely confess if God does see that in me which He praises, it is His work, I also have a craving for His praise. If ever no man praises you, but God does, would that bother you? If every man praises you, and God doesn't, what good is man's praise? To the natural man, the praise of men is important (John 12:42-43). Yet it is meaningless to the believer. To the natural man, the praise of God is meaningless. But it is everything to the believer!
