"Neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my...ministry...to testify the gospel of the grace God."Acts 20:24
Preaching the Gospel is as vital to God's minister as breathing to this physical body. Paul said, "Woe is me, if I preach not this Gospel" "I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth...For therein Is the righteousness of God revealed." "We preach Christ and Him crucified." There is nothing else to preach. There is nothing else worth listening to.
Every Gospel minister takes this matter of preaching the Gospel of the Grace of God very seriously. He feels a great responsibility I faithfully discharge His ministry. I am responsible to God to faithful discharge this duty. I am responsible to those who hear me to faithful preach this Gospel. Preaching is not a job, but a solemn charge that laid upon every man called of God It is a "necessity."
I am aware that the message of the Gospel is not generally accepted or liked by this world, but I want to tell you why I preach this "Gospel of the grace of God."
[1]. I preach this Gospel for it crowns the God of grace with the glory due His name. This Gospel declares God seated on His throne in all His glory. It shows God as He is revealed in the Scriptures controlling every event from all eternity and to all eternity. The "gospel of the grace of God" declares that God, of His own Sovereign will chose, before the foundation of the world, those whom He would save This is the good news, that His choice was not based on, nor conditioned on, anything that He saw in those whom He chose. This choice was made "in Christ" before the foundation of the world. Any teaching apart from unconditional election makes God a respecter of persons, and a debtor to man.
[2]. I preach this Gospel because it meets man where he is. We fell in sin and died spiritually. Our problem is we have a will that is not willing. Christ said, "ye will not come to me, that ye might have life." Who is going to make us free? Christ alone! The Gospel would not be good news if I came to you and said you had to do something. This Gospel speaks to us as men who are "dead in trespasses and sins."
[3]. I preach this Gospel for it shows Christ's sacrifice as the sinners only hope. It declares that the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ did not make salvation possible, but that it actually redeems ALL for whom the ransom is paid. This is the Gospel.
I am sold on this Gospel because it really does saves sinners. Salvation does not just get us started in the right direction, it carries us all the way home, and that is "Good News." It is good because it does not depend on me either to start it or finish it. It is the "Good News of God." It is the only Gospel there is and it will save you and take you all the way home.
