"Thou hast a mighty arm: strong is thy hand, and high is thy right hand.Psalms 89:13
Remember, "That which is born of the flesh is flesh." Our disappointments and failures in this life should have taught us that this flesh will not save our souls nor comfort our hearts. "Our help cometh from the Lord that made Heaven and Earth." If God does not do for us, nothing will be accomplished that will stand the test of time.
[1]. God's power is, self-existent and self-sustained. We are like the moon which only reflects, while God is the sun, the source of light. If we have any power to serve Him it is from Him.
[2]. God's power is omnipotent. "Power belongeth unto God." We have no power but that power which comes from God. And, when He gives power to us, it does not take any power from Him.
[3]. God's power is immutable. What He has done from all eternity, He is still doing now. We are getting old. Our strength is failing. We are wearing out. We may change but God never does. He is still the "Wonderful, Counselor, the Mighty God."
[4]. God's power is irresistible. "None can stay His hand." None can resist His power. When He comes in His power, hearts are humbled, hard hearts are broken, iron melts, and rock dissolves.
[5]. God's power is independent. It needs nothing from outside. God's power does not need a certain place to work. There is no power in that upper room in Jerusalem. When He comes in His power, He can make Central Louisiana ring out with blessings even as that place did. God's power needs no certain time. God's power does not need certain instruments. He who blessed this world by the prophets and the apostles can bless this world by the preachers today.
[6]. God's power is infinite. Any power we have is limited because we are finite. But there is no limit to the power of the Infinite God. Our biggest problem is thinking God is like us. Nothing is too hard for the Lord.
NAHUM 1:3-6 "The LORD is slow to anger, and great in power...the LORD hath His way in the whirlwind and in the storm...He rebuketh the sea, and maketh it dry, and drieth up all the rivers: ... The mountains quake...the hills melt..the earth is burned at His presence, yea, the world, and all that dwell therein. Who can stand before His indignation? and who can abide in the fierceness of His anger?"
[7]. God's power is ours. If your idea of God is little, you can have no confidence in His power. Your idea of God is reflected in your confidence in Him. "To him that believeth. all things are possible" "For this God is our God for ever and ever: He will be our guide even unto death."
