Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life.
Perhaps I am wrong, but to my memory, the desire to live has never been so strong upon man. The "experts" (?) keep coming up with ways to preserve these years on earth. Don't eat strawberries, don't drink that, don't breathe the air, don't eat grandma's biscuits, etc. The latest scare is the water we drink and use; men are afraid to even wash their hands in tap water. (Do you think the bottled water people had anything to do with this?)
Well, anyway men are afraid of everything. Why? Death, my friend, death. Men do not want to die, for they know "after this the judgement." (Heb.9:27).
There is a group of people in Wimberly, Texas who have shut themselves up in what they call a "sterile" environment, not knowing there is enough corruption inside of them to kill the body many times over.
I do not criticize the normal care for these bodies, but what we have now is total idiocy. It is a crippling, sick fear. My Friend, something is going to kill you. What we must do, instead of worrying ourselves to death, is prepare for whatever will eventually rub us out. You will die! Enjoy this world all you can, but prepare.
Old Job had it right: "I have said to corruption, Thou art my father: to the worm, Thou art my mother, and my sister." But he was prepared, "For I know that my Redeemer liveth, andthough after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh I shall see God" (Job 19:25,26). That's it, isn't it? What happens after death, and being afraid to do anything for it may kill me.
There is a Redeemer! His Name is the Lamb of God that taketh away the sin of the world. O vain, foolish, perverted man who would spend all his time trying to nurture this conuption instead of going to Him who is eternal life. "He that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live" (John 11:25).
If you want to spend your life in the paranoid fear of Jeath, go ahead. Not me! I will enjoy things, and rest in the blood of God's Sacrifice, our Lord Jesus Christ.
