Did you hear these words spoken by the Spirit of God? With Him there is "Plenteous redemption." These 2 words filled David's heart with rejoicing and hope. What he said to himself was, There is hope for sinners like me, because there is redemption with the Lord."
One thing we can be sure of, if God takes into account our sins, none of us will be able to stand before Him. It does not matter how good and religious we may be in our own eyes or in the eyes of others, God demands absolute perfection. Any person who stands before God at that day with the guilt of sin on him will perish in an eternal Hell.
This does not mean we are without hope, but that we are without hope in ourselves. Hope can only be found in Him. God made a way by which He can be both Just and the Justifier of the ungodly. Through the sacrifice of His Son, God has punished sin to the full satisfaction of justice and completely forgiven all who come to Him in faith.
No wonder David could sing those wonderful words, "There is forgiveness with Thee." He realized that the Lord God would forgive sin and that He would redeem all His people from all their iniquities, and that filled his heart with hope. David said, "In His word do I hope." By faith he looked to that Redeemer who was to come, and he trusted Him to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself. As sinners, we may hope in the Lord, for with Him there is mercy and with Him there is "Plenteous redemption."
God in His infinite wisdom, eternal purpose, sovereign mercy, and unchangeable grace, has an all sufficient and effectual redemption which guarantees the salvation of all His people, a redemption which guarantees the eternal salvation of every poor, helpless, trembling sinner who trusts Christ alone for the forgiveness of sin. That redemption by which God forgives sin was accomplished by the substitutionary sacrifice of His Son at Calvary. I have the great privilege to proclaim to all that redemption is accomplished by Christ, and that it is a "Plenteous redemption."
By this "Plenteous redemption," millions have been saved. Every sinner who has come to Christ in faith has found His redemption to be sufficient. All are saved on the merits of Christ. In that great final day, "ten thousand times ten thousand and thousands of thousands" will stand as trophies of Christ redemption. That crimson tide which flowed from Emmanuel's veins has washed away all the sins of all His people for all eternity. This is "Plenteous redemption," for it has fully satisfied the infinite justice of God. Justice can never demand from us what Christ has paid on our behalf. This "Plenteous redemption" guarantees and secures all the blessings of grace and glory to all of God's elect people. All that we need and all that the infinite God can give to us, was lawfully purchased for us by the blood of Christ. This is "Plenteous redemption," and it is freely given to all who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.
