When the Scriptures speak of the Lord God of Heaven "healing all our diseases", men think this is only speaking of physical ailments. If God only healed our physical ailments and left us in our greatest disease, sin, we would be eternally lost. A lot of emphasis and a lot of preaching today has only to do with the healing of our physical aliments. But every time the Scriptures speak of God healing our diseases, every time we see God healing a diseased person, there is a picture drawn in words of God removing our sin. In every case we find a person who is hopeless, without help from this world, and God coming and doing for him what he cannot do for himself. This is a picture of the salvation of our souls.
Every one of us is suffering under the disease of sin. We are hopelessly lost in sin. There is no way this world can get us out of sin. We are miserable, without hope, without help, and without God in this world. But, what a comfort it is to us to know that we have a Great Physician who is both able and willing to heal us of all our sin.
When God cures from sin, it is done immediately. "There is life in a look at the Saviour" When God cures from sin, it is radical. He goes to the heart and soul and cleanses it from sin. When God cures from sin, it is sure and certain. This is a disease that never comes back. You will never suffer from a relapse. This is no patching up for a time. God makes new creatures out of all those He cures from sin. Those in the Scriptures who were healed of physical diseases, eventually died. Those who were raised from physical death, eventually died. God did not fail, but his healing and raising were pictures of what He does for us in eternal salvation. We tend to think that when God heals a physical disease, that it is a sign of favor. But if you are not in Christ Jesus, every healing of physical ailments is a curse to you for which you will give an account in that Great Day.
There is no disease from which the Lord God of Heaven cannot heal. Most physicians are skilled in certain illnesses, and if you do not fall under their specialty, they send you to another. But God knows our weaknesses. He knows all our troubles and diseases. He heals from all our diseases. "The blood of Jesus Christ His Son, cleanses us from all sin." There is not one sinner that comes to Him in faith, which He cannot heal. Let that comfort your heart. Nothing is impossible for Him. He is the only one who can heal our diseases. No matter what our spiritual disease may be, we must come, we are commanded to come to Him for relief.
All we have to do is read about the different ones He healed, the blind, the halt, the lame, the paralyzed, the one with an issue of blood, the leprous, and the dead raised, and you will see that there is nothing He cannot do for your soul if you come to Him in faith.
