After Daniel's night with the lions, Darius the king came and asked, "Daniel, servant of the Living God, whom you serve continually, has your God been able to rescue you from the lions?" This would be the proof of the glory of Daniel's God over the other gods of Persia. Of course, we know that Daniel not only survived the night, but when he was lifted from the lion's den, not a wound was found on him. Thus was the God of Daniel glorified above all the other gods by the salvation of Daniel.
Is it not the same with us? Can we not boldly declare the greatness and glory of our God based on the fact that He was able to save us? When confronted with someone antagonistic to our gospel, boasting in his orthodoxy and humility, let us simply ask, "Has the god you serve continually been able to save your soul? Has he been able to turn your mourning to joy, your hatred to love, your fear to confidence? Has he been able to put away all your sins and justify you before the court of heaven?" For all the "power" that men profess their gods to have, they can save no one! Their followers yet languish in fear being held bondage to death and judgment. WHAT GOOD ARE SUCH GODS? The God of heaven is able "to save to the uttermost" all sinners who trust Him. He does not even need help. All those who trust Him are removed from the lion's den of judgment without so much as a scratch.
Are you weary of following a god who can't forgive your sin? Are you tired of a religion that gives you nothing but death and judgment? Then turn to the living God of Daniel and all believers, for HE IS ABLE!
