As I was driving to preach to the saints in Mankato, I was thinking of the message I planned to preach, and it was almost as though a voice said to me, “You are a fraud!” For a few moments I was quite distressed over the accusation, for I could feel the truth of it and wondered how one such as I could ever preach. Every fleshly motive and thought in my preaching was brought to mind and I felt that surely no good could ever come from my preaching. But, within a few moments, it was as though the voice said, “But Christ is no fraud.” And there the issue was settled for the time. We will never be able to do much for the cause of Christ if we are doing so based on our worthiness to do it. Rather, our strength comes from HIS worthiness. I may not be worthy to preach; but Christ is worthy to be preached!
