"Lying lips are abomination to the Lord" (Prov. 12:22). There is a good possibility that you are listening to lying lips every Sunday from the pulpit because most preachers handle the Word of God dishonestly. They preach what people want to hear declaring whatever words will fickle the ears of their listeners (II Tim. 4:3). They will say whatever it takes to keep the people, and especially the money, rolling in.
Here are the four most prevalent lies heing propagated by today's false prophets. Read these and see if your pastor has lying lips.
1. Lying lips say, "God loves everyone". If you will take the time to read the Word of God you will readily see that is not true. God hated Esau (Rom 9:13). He hates the workers of iniquity (Ps. 5:5; 11:5). No person has any reason to assume that God loves him unless he believes on the Lord Jesus Christ. God's love is only in Christ.
2. Lying lips say, "Christ died to save all mankind." You know that can't be so. If Christ suffered the penalty of God's Law, safisfied justice, and put away the sins of the entire human race, everyone would have to be saved. Christ's death was not an attempt to save everyone but the accomplishment of the salvation of His people. Christ gave HimseIf for His church (Eph. 5:25; Acts 20:28). He laid down His life for His sheep (John 10:11). Christ died to redeem, reconcile, and save every sinner given to Him in the everlasting covenant of grace.
3. Lying lips say, "God is trying to save everybody." Has it ever dawned on you just how absurd it is to say that God is trying to do something? The almighty God never tries to do anything. He does as He pleases, fulfilling His perfect will in everything (Isa. 46:9-11). And when it comes to the salvation of sinners, God will save every sinner He has chosen to save. Did you know there was an election unto salvation which took place before the world began (II Thess. 2:13)? Who these elect are we do not know, so we preach the gospel of grace to every creature knowing that all who are ordained to eternal life will believe (Acts 13:48; II Tim. 2:9-10). The Lord will save His chosen people and His Word will not return unto Him void (Isa. 55:10-11).
4. Lying lips say, "Every man has a free will which is the determining factor in salvation." Lying lips utter heresies such as, "God has done all He can do, now the rest is up to you."Don't listen to these falsehoods. Your will is not free; it is enslaved by sin and Satan. Salvation is not by your will but by God's will (John 1:12-13; Rom. 9:16). If God leaves man to himself, he will never, of his own will come to Christ (John 5:40; 6:44).
