WHAT THE LORD JESUS HAS DONE!

WHAT THE LORD JESUS HAS DONE!

Ken Wimer

Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.–Mark 5:19

If the Lord has done a work of saving grace in your heart, there is no question about what you will want others to know. Your testimony will not be how you "walked an aisle", or "made your decision for Jesus." Your testimony will most certainly be that of the demoniac whom the Lord delivered, "how great things the LORD HATH DONE..."

Many today are wearing paraphernalia with the initials, WWJD (`What would Jesus do?'). However, true saving faith in the Lord Jesus is not worn on the outward, but emanates from a heart that God the Spirit has changed by His grace. The church of Jesus Christ, the bride of Christ is typified in the believing wife described in 1 Peter 3:3 -- "Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; but...the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, ...a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price."

The message of the Gospel is not "What would Jesus do?" but "What did the Lord Jesus Christ do?" Nowhere in Scripture do we find that the Gospel is to be marketed. It is to be proclaimed! What did the Lord Jesus Christ accomplish in coming to this earth?

1. He accomplished the eternal will of God the Father in redeeming those that He has chosen to save by His grace, John 6:38,39.

2. He worked out a perfect righteousness for every one of His people. So full and complete is His work of righteousness, that God the Father considers all who are in Christ Jesus to be just as holy as He is, Hebrews 10:10

The only righteousness that God considers is that which the Lord Jesus Christ has worked out for the believer, and -worked in the believer by His Spirit. When you trust Christ, don't look to what He would do, but WHAT HE HAS DONE!
