"The Lord taketh pleasure in his people" (Psalm 149:4). He who made us his Israel (V-2) takes pleasure in us. I believe with all my heart and live on the truth that the Lord of glory chose me in his Son, loved me with an everlasting love, gave his own precious Son for my righteousness and redemption; quickened, called, converted and keeps me unto the end of my faith, the ultimate salvation of my soul. These precious truths I live on day by day. I live on the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ, in whom these truths are found. But my heart is always amazed and overwhelmed by the thought that the God of the Bible "takes pleasure in me." I see so much sinfulness and sin in me, and have to live with it from day to day. I can take no pleasure in myself, but my God takes pleasure in me! Amazing! Overwhelming! He who chose me and loves me, takes pleasure in me. "The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing" (Zephaniah 3:17). And it is all because of HIM, the Lord Jesus Christ. It is all in and through HIM!
Since God's heart is so great and his love so infinite, I should not be surprised. Since he has already done so much for my sinful soul, I am not surprised. But my old heart is still amazed and overwhelmed. HE takes pleasure in ME! What a God! What a Saviour! What infinite love and grace! Dear Brothers and Sisters, take this truth home with you. Bind it to your heart. IT IS CHRIST!
