THE WORLD KNEW HIM NOT

THE WORLD KNEW HIM NOT
John 1:10

"He was in the world, and the world was made by Him, and the world knew Him not."–John 1:10

THEY KNEW NOT THE ONE WHO WAS IN THE WORLD– In the Old Testament, God ordained for the children of Israel to pitch the tabernacle in the center of the camp. It was there that God dwelt among the people. It was there that the Lord God had purposed to put His name and receive the worship of the people, through the sacrifices and the priesthood. This must have been an unusual sight for the nations to behold. Their "gods" were far removed, but this One dwelt with His people. Their "gods" had different names and different requirements. This One had but one Name, and one way of approaching unto Him; the shedding of the blood of an innocent, spotless animal. The first was but a type of the Lord Jesus Christ, in whom the Word says, "God dwelt (tabernacled) among us." John 1:14.

THEY KNEW NOT THE ONE WHO MADE THE WORLD–The infinite God took on human flesh. He whose "goings forth have been from old, from everlasting…" Micah 5:2, came forth from the womb of a virgin. He who upholds all things by the word of His power, was held in the arms of an earthly mother, Luke 2:30.

THEY KNEW NOT THE SAVIOR– Natural men are blind and cannot see Him. Even among the nation of Israel, which had the Law and the Prophets, it is written, "they knew Him not, nor yet the voices of the prophets which are read every sabbath day…" Acts 13:27 Israel of old had the tabernacle, the priesthood, the sacrifices and the mercy seat, yet they did not know the One that these represented; the God/Man, the One True High Priest, the Atonement, the Propitiatory for the sins of His people.

Is the blindness any less today throughout the world? Many who have the written Word of God, yet deny Him as the Living Sovereign LORD. Many who attend "churches" who are not in THE CHURCH, whose one foundation is Jesus Christ the Lord. Their names are on earthly rolls, but their names are not written in the Lamb’s book of LIFE, Hebrews 12:23,24. Many go about to establish their own righteousness, to their own destruction, Romans 10:1-4, knowing nothing of the Righteousness HE worked out, whereby His people are made Holy and without blame before God. Many who acknowledge that Christ died, and yet deny that there is any power in His death to save them, unless they, by their "free-will" apply it to themselves. They know of Christ, but they know HIM not, nor the work that He accomplished. Consequently, they are of those who count "the blood of the covenant, whereby He was sanctified, an unholy thing" Heb. 10:29. May God give us ears to hear, and eyes to see!
