"Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who shall stand in his holy place?"Psalm 24:3
The response to this question is found in the following verse. "He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart: who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully." What man or woman born upon the face of this earth has these qualifications by nature. The Bible says, "There is none righteousness, no not one." How then does sinful man stand before God who demands perfect holiness?
Praise be unto Him! God "hath made him (Christ) to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him." 2 Corinthians 5:21. The Son of God has put the sin of His people away by the sacrifice of himself (Hebrews 9:26; I Peter 2:24; 3:18; 4:1). He put their sins away by voluntarily suffering the wrath of God to the full satisfaction of justice, dying as the Lamb of God upon the altar of God, by the hand of God, for the people of God.
Who then "shall stand in His holy place?" Those who have been washed clean by the blood of the Lamb, robed in His righteousness and made holy by His effectual work of substitution at Calvary. Who are they? They are those who trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. They are those who look to Christ for their righteousness and rest in His finished work at Calvary. Will you stand in His holy place one day? Will you stand there as one who has "clean hands and a pure heart?" Oh, we must believe Him. He is our only hope of standing before His throne.
