WHO IS UPON THE THRONE?

WHO IS UPON THE THRONE?

The reason natural religious men hate the Gospel of God's sovereign grace in Christ Jesus today is the same reason men hated Christ in the New Testament. Well, why did men hate Christ in the New Testament? They hated Him because of who He claimed to be. He claimed to be God which means He is sovereign over all things. Their hatred for Him led them to crucify Him. (Acts 2:23) Men and women whether religious or not will not have anyone rule over them when it comes to spiritual things and in particular their salvation. Now most religious people today would say that they are glad that Christ is on the throne and ruling but only as long as He does not interfere with there own will. When it comes to the salvation of sinners they believe man is the sovereign one who determines his own destiny. Natural religious man rebels against the fact that God has chosen a people that He is going to save. Natural religious man rebels against the fact that Christ died only for the elect. They will not bow to a Christ who is totally sovereign over all things, especially the salvation of sinners.

Oh friend, if Christ is not sovereign in the salvation of sinners, we are all hopelessly lost! Sinners must have a sovereign redeemer or they will never be saved. If man is indeed spiritually dead, then he needs a sovereign Saviour who will seek him out and give him life and faith. Man left to himself and to his own will, will never seek after this all sovereign Christ. They will only follow a christ made after their own imaginations who is in subjection to the will of man.

"Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, and causest to approach unto thee, that he may dwell in thy courts." (Psalm 65:4) Blessed is that man or woman who has been made to see themselves as they really are.
