Under the Levitical order there was a remembrance of sin at the end of every year, "But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year" (Heb. 10:3). But in the eternal Priesthood of Christ He has declared, "For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more" (Heb. 8:12). Our sins will be remembered only in this sense; they were imputed to Christ, and He bore the penalty for them, "Who His Own Self bare our sins in His Own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by Whose stripes ye were healed" (1 Peter 2:24). This will be the declaration when we stand before God in judgment. The Lord Jesus Christ will answer for both our sin and our righteousness.
