IT JUST DON'T MAKE SENSE

IT JUST DON'T MAKE SENSE

Tommy Robbins

I don't claim to be smart. Quite the contrary. But there are some things that even I can understand. I know that the sun is shining because I have eyes and can see it. I know that fire is hot because I am burned when I come in contact with it. I know that thunder makes a noise because I have ears and can hear it. I know that filth stinks because I have a nose and can smell it. I know that pineapple upside-down cake is good because I have a tongue and can taste it. All of the above makes sense. At least to me it does. And if you are not dead, you will agree with the concept of our natural senses. Everyone has a need for, and wants, everything to make sense. That is, except in Spititual matters. It just don't make sense (neither common, nor Spiritual sense) for the true child of God to not be committed to the things of God. There are those who excuse themselves from the public worship of God for some of the most selfish and ridiculous reasons (not occasionally, but frequently). They claim to love God, His Christ, His Gospel, and His people. They bear the name of Christ, they partake of the Church Ordinances, yet live to themselves. There are those who claim to love the brethren, yet spend all their leisure time with unbelievers that hate God, have no interest in the Gospel of God's Sovereign Grace, and call them their dearest friends. There are those who call themselves Christians, and say that they are thankful to have a place to meet to worship, yet can go for years without lifting a hand to help take care of the place that God has provided. There are those who profess to know the Lord and desire to see the work of the Lord continue and grow, yet out of the storehouse of the earthly blessings that God has prospered them with they only give a meager crumb to His work.

Now, to imagine that this is love to God, commitment to the Gospel, or even a Christian is insanity. It Just don't make sense! If it does, then water is dry and fire is cold! DON'T YOU AGREE??
