"Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; and declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection of the dead." Rom. 1:3,4
The most awesome truth to consider is God becoming a man. In condescension and humility, the Lord Jesus Christ came to this earth, both as God and Man.
Imagine the distance between the Creator God and the creature man,
yet, both were joined together in one. Immortal Spirit joined with
dying flesh; the Highest joined with the lowest; Eternal blessedness with
perpetual weakness; One who is Self sufficient and Independent joined to
that which is totally dependent. It was the very Perfection of God taking
on the imperfection of man, except without sin. It was the fulness of God,
joined to the emptiness of man. Great is the mystery of Godliness.
How real was this union of the two natures of God
and Man in Jesus Christ? So much so that the very blood of the Lord
Jesus Christ is called, "the blood of God,"
(Acts 20:28).
Salvation required the Substitute to be so much man as if He were not God, yet, as much God as if He were not man. God could not compromise His Holiness to save sinful creatures. Otherwise, He would have to vacate His throne, and that, He will never do. He killed His Son instead, to satisfy all His righteous requirements, that He might be just and justify ungodly sinners.
